Dates

I am open to the dates. Springbreak sounds like it will be hard since several people will be out and about. What about early May before school is out?

Actually, I don't have anything to do, so, why am I answering???? I can go tomorrow.

I typed in some dates today from Atlanta to Punta Cana on Delta just to get an idea on the cost of airline tickets. The roundtrip fare was $318 for the dates of April 10-15.

How long do we want to stay? Has anyone come up with preferred dates of travel? The above dates are during my kids Spring Break which is why I put those dates in.

I promise you girls I was not drunk when I posted my last comment; a little tired maybe but not drunk.....what I was trying to say was...."now that we've pretty much decided".......not "now that's we've".....

Enough Color Purple language......are we all in agreement that Punta Cana better get ready for our arrival?

If that's the case, now that the destination has been determined any suggestions for the dates? What if all the parents post their kids' Spring Break dates and all the lucky unattached women can post their desired dates and we'll go from there???????

Punta Cana here we come! Now that's we've pretty much decided on that....or at least that's my vote....what dates are we looking at?

Added some links over to the left!

I added some links that DO work that show some of the hotels. Think Punta Cana is going to be the winner. Click on the Excellence Hotel link, you'll want to go there, like , yesterday!

Interesting News!!

A friend of mine is going on some kind of get away trip in September. Several of her friends are turning 40, so its a good time to go. Anyway, they are going to Punta Cana! So, I told her to let us all know the scoop. It'll be good to have some inside tips.

Also, if we can get 10 or more, we might be able to get 20-25% off our Delta flight. From Atlanta, so we'll see.

Punta Cana Sounds Great

Hmmm..I guess that's all I had to say. I used to work with a girl from the Dominican Republic and the pictures she showed of her home made me think I'd like to visit.

October sounds great to me. That gives us enough time to line up a travel agent and payment schedules.

It's funny that you suggested the Dominic Republic. I recently interviewed a guy with the NFL that had just returned from a vacation to Punta Cana in the Dominic Republic and he was signing the island's praises.

I looked up flight prices and they were right at $450. The way things are looking if we want to go somewhere really nice, we're going to have to pay for it. The rooms for $100 sounds fine to me. Do you remember which hotel chain it was? Or was it like a resort?

Come on ladies, October will be here before we know it. Let's get our thinking caps on. Ask other friends and co-workers of great vacation spots, preferably an island with white sandy beaches and some umbrella dranks.

Nail This Thing Down By???

I'm going to say by October, maybe. And by nail it down, this means we'll know where we're going and what we're going to do there. Let's not pick a spot, and then decide our agenda. The decision should be made by what we can do there, AND the cost.

**The Domincan Republic has all inclusive resorts. So once you pay, atleast you won't have to pay for meals also. I looked it up, and the rooms were like $100/ per night. That sounds great to me.**
I'm down with all the stuff Lisa wants. A museum? You have got to be kidding! Forget that, we're trying to have a really good time and for me that does not include seclusion or a museum.

Derrilyn what time frame are you interested in having this thing nailed down by?

Checking in

Hey, I've just been reading and taking it all in. You all are such world travelers. I'm just trying to get to Key West. :-)

Once the date/destination/price are narrowed down, I'll know if I can get out of here.

Baby Joshua is fine. He's such a sweet baby. But I'll forward the info to Jabreel.

How will we make a decision?

I think we agree that we all just want to get away. Maybe we can narrow it down by what we are looking for in a vacation. I would like to go somewhere warm, preferably with access to a beach. It should have some cultural activities (so that I can feel that I actually saw the city), a lively nightlife (despite my bad dancing) and good food (hey, I like food). Someone else might want seclusion (Bora Bora) or good museums (London, Paris) or access to designer clothes (Singapore, Milan). The other consideration is probably cost, maybe we can narrow it down by price?

Derrilyn, I didn't know you felt so strongly about cruises!

Welcome Enid!!! Lisa, can you post?

Hey, Enid!

I hope you can get away with us! How about Jabreel? Do you think she'd be interested? How's the new baby doing?

I'm gonna give us a little while to throw things around, then we've got to zero in on a destination.

Lisa....????

Simone....????

Emilie P. Funk....????

FYI! Paul said we might be able to get a group rate on the airfare, flying Delta. I think the minimum is 10 people, and you just have to be paid in full 30 days in advance. So that may help a little. $500 to Bermuda is steep, IMO.

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

I checked on some tickets to Bermuda today and they were about $550 even a year out. Since we're trying to get a travel agent to set this up on a payment schedule that price is cool.

Another option is, I hear Paris is nice.....any takers?

Monday, July 16, 2007

My vote is for Bermuda. You say them boyz over there like sistas, so I likes them boyz over there. Let's party like some rock stars!

Kim, I did this all on my own girl....."I'm a big kid now!" Although I will have to get the kids to do a picture thingy if I decide to put one up.

Kim won't outdo me!!

Maybe we have turned this into a little sibling rivalry. But if Kim can put a picture up, so can I!
Now! Where to, girls?

Friday, July 13, 2007

OK! We're in!!!

Since it's us posting all the time, we all know we're "open to whatever". No one seems to care where we go, so how 'bout we pick something, and the date. Then when people jump on board, it's like this is the place, this is the date.

I really do not like cruises, because they are all the same, but it is easy to do. Thoughts? Plus the little bathrooms are scary, and its a little stinky. The sheets and comforters are really nasty. So!! Cruise, anyone?

Go Cassandra!!!!!

I know you got help from kids, but you are out there doing your thing:')

Kim
I'm ready to rock and roll now ladies. I've figured out how to add my own comments to the blog....two thumbs up!!!!!

As I said (via Derrilyn) before, I truly don't care where we go! Can we leave tomorrow? Or at least next week???????

I'm not sure on the passport thing but if we're leaving the U.S. (and I sure hope we are) we need to find that information out ASAP! It's going to be quite uncomfortable for me trying to fit in Derrilyn's luggage along with her clothes.

Help...I'm trapped in someone else's comments

All, what's happening? Derrilyn says that no one can post a new comment. Be careful, everyone under 30 can probably do this. Don't date yourself. We have a trip to plan (young ladies).

Oh No.... Need a Passport

Okay... I have to get a passport. How long is this going to take? Can you still get a 'Rushed Passport' in DC? Will I be able to get one in 6 months with the backlog? Someone send me the skinny please.

Kim's Thoughts

Great! It all sounds like a blast. I am truly looking forward to a good time away from home. I need to reach out a find a few email addresses from my Hampton Friends. I'll get them on board this weekend.

From Cassandra

I'm looking forward to seeing all of my old friends again as well as making some new ones. One can never go wrong when hanging out with a classy, professional, beautiful and strong set of African-American women.I don't care where we go because I know a good time will be had by all. Bermuda sounds like a blast, especially if they like some sista gurls......

posted by Derrilyn for Cassandra

Maybe Bermuda...

We went to Bermuda several years ago, and I loved it. It was a little pricey, though. Around the island it was obvious that the locals love African American women. Could be an option.

First post...Let's Get This Thing Rolling.....

Ok, Ladies,

For those of you who do not know what's going on, my name is Derrilyn Price, from Atlanta. Several girlfriends, and myself, have decided to plan a Get Away Trip in late Spring/early Summer 2008. The trip is totally open to anyone who feels the need to treat themselves to a little sun & fun, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. All of us deserve atleast that. A few days away will do us well, and remember, our everyday lives, and all that goes with it, (good and bad), will be there waiting on you, when you return!

With that said, we are calling this a BYOF get away. Bring Your Own Friend! Thats just a fun way of saying, don't feel like you'll be heading out with a bunch of people you barely know...invite your crew, or your girlfriends, too. We'll all have a great time together.

The plans are just getting underway, so all input is appreciated, and needed. The first thought was to go to the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival in June 2008. Another thought was the Dominican Republic, I think. What do you all say?

Send out the address to this blog, and we'll see if we can't get this thing moving.

See y'all in 2008!

Derrilyn
